If you've had the chance to look at today's national daily or scroll through the e-paper, the jacket ad would have definitely caught your attention. The ad is by PET Packaging Association for Clean Environment (PACE).

The ad highlights statistics such as 90 per cent of PET bottles produced in India are recycled and that approximately 100 crore garments and home textiles in India are made from recycled PET bottles. Reportedly, the Government of India will be imposing a nationwide ban on single-use plastics starting October 2, 2019.
In the past, PACE India has released two videos to deliver a similar message.
Incorporated in March, 2015, PACE promotes environmentally safe and friendly PET packaging for food and beverages and pharmaceutical products. It facilitates the framing, development and dissemination of best practices related to PET manufacturing and recycling.
A 2017 report by National Chemical Laboratory, Pune revealed that close to 70 per cent of PET bottles get recycled through the organised sector in India. The report, which aimed to answer questions on the afterlife of PET bottles, had put the annual PET recycling business in India at an estimated Rs 3,500 crore.
Presenting the key highlights of the report, Prakash Chandra Joshi, secretary general, PACE, said that almost 65 to 70 per cent of the post consumer PET bottles are being recycled in 45 organised recycling facilities.
