As Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity 2021 wraps up, FCB Interface and Dentsu Webchutney emerged as the most awarded agencies. Indian agencies brought home 2 Gold Lions, 10 silver lions and 10 Bronze Lions – a total of 22 awards.
The Punishing Signal won 7 Lions - 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze Lions at Cannes this year. As a part of the Punishing Signal campaign, the first leg of activation was tested in Mumbai at important junctions that are most prone to heavy traffic such as CSMT, Marine Drive, Peddar Road, Hindmata and Bandra. And the film gives one glimpses of the confused honking Mumbaikars who honked, waited, honked and learnt it the hard way, that honking is not the way out.
FCB Interface also won a Bronze Lion for their work for Times of India titled Times Out and Proud campaign in the Sustainable Development Goals Lions category.
This campaign film intends to empower the members of the LGBTQ community to live a dignified life with acceptance and pride. The ad campaign 'Out & Proud' was to highlight the brand's support for the LGBTQ community.
Geometry Encompass’ work for Unilever brand Lifebuoy titled ‘Hackwashing’ also won an award – a Bronze Lion in the Health and Wellness category. Lowe Lintas’ work for Lifebuoy also won an award in this category – the campaign ‘H for Handwashing’ brought home a Bronze Lion.
Dentsu Webchutney won 3 Silver, 2 Bronze Lions for their campaign for Vice Media - The 8-Bit Journo.It also won a Silver Lion in the Entertainment Lions category for their entry ‘The World’s Most Reported Trailer’, made in association with Trigger Happy Entertainment, was to promote the Bollywood movie Thappad. The win was in the audience engagement/distribution strategy sub-category.
Webchutney also won awards for 8-Bit Journo, a campaign they worked on for Vice Media. Relevant news stories that Kashmiris had missed out on over due to the internet shutdown in the state were converted into teletext and dispatched to lakhs of Kashmiris through SMS, the moment cellular phone service resumed in Jammu and Kashmir.
