We've curated a listicle of videos that best showcase the celebration of Father's Day by popular brands.
Every year, on the eve of Father's Day, brands naturally see merit in boosting their advertising and garnering the attention of existing and potential consumers. This year too, brands such as Prega News, Muthoot Pappachan Group, Future Generali Life Insurance, Myntra, Bombay Shaving Company, and Kalyan Jewellers have come up with digital ads designed to capture the attention of the consumers for the occasion.
A look at all the Father's Day ads and initiatives undertaken by the above-mention brands:
Prega News
Prega News, the pregnancy detection card brand by Mankind Pharmaceuticals has launched a new campaign #QuitBeforeYouStart. The ad that has been made by ADK Fortune is targeted at couples planning a family. The toll of young smokers in India and the world over is increasing swiftly and according to research conducted by the brand, women usually stop smoking before they start planning a baby. But in the case of their male counterparts, it is rare that they would make the same choice. Through the study conducted by the National Health Society, United Kingdom, it is observed that men, who continue smoking while planning a family, run the risk of permanently damaging the DNA of the foetus. Highlighting this issue, Prega News urges 'would be fathers' to quit smoking before they start planning a family.
Muthoot Fincorp
Muthoot Fincorp, the non-banking financial company by Muthoot Pappachan Group, launched an ad - 'Sinhaji Ki Kahani' - that should create an emotional spark with those who know the pain of staying away from their families for a long time. In this particular film, the brand has shown how an old widower resorts to rather 'sweet' trickery just to spend some time with other people. He cuts the wire and invites the cable TV repairman to have lunch with him while he regales the technician about his family who lives abroad. The message is quite simple and sweet as the brand tries to encourage children who live far from their parents to try and spend Father's Day with their deal old dads.
Future Generali Life Insurance
The life insurance brand has come up with a new digital film #AapkiHealthMereLiye, urging fathers to recognise the need to stay healthy by making a sincere 'health promise' to their children. Despite being the ultimate caregiver, fathers often tend to overlook their own health. According to the note shared by the brand, recent studies also suggest that an alarming number of urban men suffer from lifestyle-related health diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and hypertension. The brand challenges the usual approach to Father's Day advertising by reversing the role-play and having fathers gift their children an intangible, albeit valuable gift of health, instead of the other way around.
Myntra
The online retail brand's new digital campaign #MyDadMyHero is a tribute to beloved fathers. The film highlights certain moments and incidents in life where fathers have been immensely supportive to make their children strong individuals and have taught them important lessons that they can cherish forever. The ad showcases a variety of brands that will help children express their gratitude by pampering their fathers on the special day.
Kalyan Jewellers
The jewellery brand, as a part of its Father's Day campaign, has come up with a digital video called #AlwaysWalaLove that features Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan and his daughter Shweta Bachchan. The video captures a candid conversation between the two where Shweta speaks about her happiness in spending a day with her father while Big B reveals an anecdotal story from when his daughter was a toddler.
Using this video as the launch pad to their Father's Day campaign, Kalyan Jewellers has partnered with social media influencers from around the country to take this conversation further. The campaign will be seeing bloggers across the country like Aman Preet Singh Virk from Chandigarh, Divya Maben from Bangalore and YouTuber Sudeshna from Kolkata in conversation with their fathers. The campaign aims to involve a larger audience and get them to speak about the #AlwaysWalaLove that they share with their dads.
Bombay Shaving Company
The men's grooming brand's new digital film - New Favourite Thing - is an ad about men from three generations i.e. a child, his father and the grandfather who play the main protagonists. The film starts with an old man wanting to solve a crossword puzzle in a newspaper with a fountain pen, but it never works. His son sees him struggling and hands his father a pen that he gifted him in 1999 with a personalised message - 'Happy Father's Day'. As the old man starts working on the puzzle his son subtly gestures to his child to bring something; it turns out to be a gift for his grandfather - a shaving kit. The video ends with a message - 'A gift from you is treasured forever. This Father's Day, gift your dad his new favourite thing.'
