The Advertising Standard Council of India's Consumer Complaints Council (CCC), a self-regulatory industry body, has released a report about complaints it upheld in August 2015.

Of the 117 complaints received, the CCC found 87 ads guilty of violating the prescribed code. While maximum defaulters (41) belonged to the education category, 37 objectionable ads in the Personal and Health Care category and nine advertisements from the Others categories were found misleading.

Defaulters in the education category included Personaliteez, NIPS School of Hotel Management, CL Educate (Career Launcher), and Invertis University. Most complaints were upheld due to unsubstantiated claims propagated by the defaulters.

Meanwhile, defaulters in the health and personal care categories, which include LG Electronics India (LG water purifiers), Hindustan Unilever ((Pureit Ultima), and Nirog Ayurvedic Centre, contravened provisions of the Drug and Magic Remedies Act, and Chapter 1.1 and III.4 of the ASCI Code.

Ads upheld in the Others category include Bharti Airtel, Amazon Kindle, Manappuram Finance, and City Broadband for propagating unsubstantiated claims.
