The production house has promoted Satish Nair and Prashant Bhagia as film directors.
Rising Sun Films, a production house started by Shoojit Sircar along with producer Arijit Lahiri (Ronnie), has announced two senior level appointments. The production house has elevated its in-house talent Satish Nair and Prashant M Bhagia as film directors.
Speaking on the development, Arijit Lahiri (Ronnie), company director and producer, Rising Sun Films, says, "Since Rising Sun Films started, the company has believed in promoting in-house talent. Keeping in line with the tradition, we are proud to introduce two of Rising Sun Film's protégés, Satish Nair & Prashant Bhagia to the panel of directors."
Bhagia has over 12 years of experience in the advertising and feature films industry. He started his career at Ram Gopal Varma's Factory and worked on various feature films. Soon, he moved to advertising and has been with Rising Sun Films since 2007, and has worked on a number of reputed brands like Airtel, Maggi, Dove and Britannia, with advertising agencies under the mentorship of Shoojit Sircar. Among the prominent campaigns, Bhagia worked as an associate director on the Gujarat Tourism commercials featuring Amitabh Bachchan. He has also worked on the critically acclaimed feature film 'Vicky Donor'. Besides directing a few ad films, he recently made a public service film 'O Mother' on AIDS awareness that went viral on the internet.
Nair had started off his career as a graphic designer, but the art of storytelling led him to Mumbai. He assisted Shoojit Sircar for around 10 years in commercials and feature films. He worked as second unit director in the critically acclaimed movie 'Madras Café'. He has also co-directed and directed commercials namely the BJP music video "Achhe Din", the BJP Haryana Campaign, ads for Maggi, Coke Pakistan and Dhanuka Agri Products, among others.
