The tyre-maker has launched a road safety campaign.
TVS TYRES, a two- and three-wheeler tyre brand from TVS Srichakra is running a road safety campaign titled 'Traffic Unjam', across different cities aiming at creating awareness on traffic rules and to educate people on road safety measures.
Traffic Unjam has already taken place in Ahmedabad and Lucknow. TVS Tyres conducted the activity in association with the City Traffic Police Department, where TVS Tyres' volunteers act as 'traffic marshals' holding placards at high traffic zones highlighting 'ROADSENSE' and traffic rules.
The campaign took place in Ahmedabad between July 9 and 11 and in Lucknow from July 10-12. Traffic Unjam covered 81 traffic signals in each city. According to WHO's Global Status Report on Road Safety 2013, the total number of road traffic deaths remains unacceptably high at 1.24 million per year. With some caution, care and sound road sense the number of accidents happening on daily basis can be controlled.
P. Vijayaraghavan, director, TVS SRICHAKRA, says, "Our core philosophy revolves around continuous improvement in all facets of its operations and ways to give back to the community. Since tyre care and road safety go hand in hand, we decided to look at a campaign that would benefit, not just the riders, but the society on the whole."
