Taproot India has appointed Priyanka Rishi as general manager. Based in Mumbai, Rishi will report to Umesh Shrikhande, CEO, Taproot India.

According to Shrikhande, with so many interesting opportunities for adding value to clients' businesses and brands, Rishi is a welcome addition to the agency's talented team. "She is passionate about both strategy and creativity and comes with a deep and insightful understanding of brands. Infusing our team with such strong talent will further the process of adding depth and sparkle to brand Taproot," he adds.

On her new role, Rishi adds, "To be a part of an agency that has set benchmarks for the industry is professionally stimulating and exciting. I look forward to building on Taproot's strengths and work ethos to create an even stronger organisation."

Rishi brings to the table over 16 years of experience. She started her career with Ogilvy & Mather where she spent over 10 years, before she quit to join Publicis Ambience in April 2007. At O&M, Rishi was with the agency's Delhi office from 1996-2000, and worked on brands like KFC, Satyam Cineplex and Kelvinator. In 2000, she moved to Mumbai and worked with brands such as Ponds, Dove, Limca, Sprite, Fanta, MTDC, Kotex, Huggies and Kotak.

After a brief stint of around six months at Publicis Ambience (handled Lakme and Westside), Rishi moved on to JWT as VP and client services director. In three years of her stay at JWT, she worked with Godrej Appliances, Godrej Security Solutions, DSP BlackRock, SET Max, Thomas Cook and LUX (BB).

In April 2011, she joined Mudra India as senior vice-president. She is also the marketing director at Asset Care Advisory.
