Deepak Singh, former executive creative director of Denstu Communications, has been appointed national head of art at TBWAIndia. Singh will be based in Mumbai and will report to Parixit Bhattacharya, chief creative officer, TBWAIndia Group.

Interestingly, the new position was created by the agency since it felt the need to have someone focus exclusively on the art and design requirements of the products the agency caters to. In effect, it will mean all the art directors and visualisers of the agency will report to Singh.

It may be recalled that Singh had joined Dentsu Communications, Mumbai, from DDB Mudra in February.

Bhattacharya says, "Deepak is a rare talent. He has greatness tattooed into him. He is insatiably hungry to get the most out of every brief." Another aspect that makes Singh a rare talent, according to Bhattacharya, is his humbleness despite winning many awards.

Agreeing with him, Shiv Sethuraman, chief executive officer, TBWAIndia Group, says that he is delighted to have Singh as part of the agency's team. "Parx (Bhattacharya) is burning the candle at both ends to put together a dream team. Deepak is most certainly one of the brightest stars in that team. Watch out for more," he states.

On his part, Singh says, "I love my job - the best part about it is that an idea can come from anywhere. And, there is no one who is big or small in the industry. It's the idea that makes the person big or small. TBWA has a great roster of clients that gives me the opportunity to do some fantastic work. I'm looking forward to working with Parixit Bhattacharya, who brings along with him a lot of international experience and awards."

Singh has about seven years of experience in the industry. In fact, he shifted his career to advertising after working as a software engineer for some time. He began his career in advertising with Grey Worldwide in 2006, where Vikram Gaekwad, the then creative director at Grey, recruited him. Singh also worked with McCann and Leo Burnett before joining DDB Mudra. In such a short span in the industry, Singh boasts of winning over 300 national and international awards in Cannes, One Show, LIA, Adfest, Spikes, Young Guns, New York Festival, Goafest and SOAA.
