The agency's Kochi office will service the brand.
Jayalakshmi Silks, the Kochi-based textile retail brand, has awarded its creative duties to Dentsu Communications. The agency's Kochi office will service the account. The brand was earlier being serviced by a Kochi-based local creative agency.
The account size is pegged at Rs 15 crore, as per sources.
This is the second account win for the Kochi office, the first being jewellery brand Jos Alukkas, which the agency won towards the end of 2012.
Govind Kamath, managing partner, Jalayalaksmi Silks, says, "We were looking at a total revamp of our brand communications and wanted a creative agency that could understand and cater to our exact needs. We have a distinct position in the category and to help maintain this leadership stance we have roped in Dentsu Communications."
Commenting on the new business win, Arijit Ray, CEO, Dentsu Communications, says the agency looks forward to a partnership that will create a compelling proposition for the brand. "I am sure Saji Jayakumar and team will make the most of this opportunity. With Jos Alukkas and Jayalakshmi Silks in our kitty, Saji and team at Dentsu Communications Kochi have a great platform to build further."
Suresh Mohan Kumar, national planning head, Dentsu Communications, adds that Jayalakshmi is one of the strongest retail brands in Kerala and the agency will help take the brand to enter its next level of growth.
Jayalakshmi Silks is well-known in Kerala and has showrooms in Kochi, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram. It was set up in the Kochi in 1947. The brand apparently boasts of nearly 5000-10,000 walk-ins per day at its four showrooms.
Dentsu Communications opened its Kochi branch in December, 2012. It's the second office of the agency in the southern region of the country, after Bengaluru.
