The India chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) has joined hands with Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA) for the 2013 Olive Crown Awards to recognise advertising talent from pan Asia.

Srinivasan Swamy, president, IAA, says, "AFAA has helped us market this award across different countries of Asia. It has supported us in getting entries from different countries of the Asian region."

Swamy adds that there are 30 entries from outside India, although there are no jury members from other Asian countries.

The total number of entries for Olive Crown Awards 2013 is about 300, an approximate 50 per cent increase over its previous edition. The awards were first launched at Goafest 2011; for the first time, in 2013, it has invited entries from all over Asia.

The award ceremony will take place at Shangri-la Hotel, Parel, Mumbai on April 1 and will be attended by Praful Patel, union minister. The event is presented by 9X Media and the Green partners for the awards are Hungama.com, Rajasthan Patrika and Panasonic India.

The entries for the awards were accepted till January 31. IAA Olive Crown Awards is the first-ever Indian award for creative excellence in communicating sustainability.

Earlier, in 2011, when Goafest hosted the first Olive Crown Awards, Dentsu had bagged the maximum awards, followed by Mudra Communications and Umbrella Design.

In the second edition of the awards held in February 2012, Webchutney and JWT India emerged as winners. Nokia was adjudged the Green Advertiser of the Year, while Ogilvy India bagged the Campaign of the Year.

IAA in India has been quite active in the last few months. It has organised several events such as IAA Leadership Awards Event, Gender Sensitization Seminar for various content developers, and a series of debates on aspects of marketing and communication under "IAA Debates".

It will soon launch IAA Mentorship Webinars and two such webinars are scheduled in April. Many other knowledge-enhancing activities are also on the anvil.
