Integrated communications company JWT has won the creative mandate for the Sun Group's IPL business. JWT Chennai will handle this account.

The agency will develop the entire launch communication package for the Hyderabad IPL team; the team belongs to the Sun Group.

Also, in the days ahead, the agency will work to create a new identity for the team, including revamped jersey colours and a 360 degree multi-media campaign.

For the record, the Sun Group is one of India's largest media houses with presence in cable and satellite television, FM radio, newsprint and aviation. The group forayed into the sports marketing field with the buyout of the Hyderabad team earlier this year.

Beating the only other bidder, Hyderabad-based PVP Ventures (promoted by Prasad V Potluri) , The Sun Group bought the IPL Hyderabad franchise in October.

By winning the auction, the Kalanithi Maran-run Sun Group replaced the former owner of the Hyderabad IPL franchise, a very cash-strapped Deccan Chronicle Holdings (DCHL). In fact, the BCCI scrapped DCHL's Deccan Chargers franchise due to its failure to meet its financial commitments.

JWT Chennai recently won the creative mandate for GRT Jewellery. The clientele of this branch office comprises names such as MRF, Univercell, GRT Hotels, Tamilnad Mercantile Bank, TI Cycles and Renuka Builders, among others.
