Sharma, chairman of India sub-continent, Leo Burnett has been elected as chairman of ASCI, while Partha Rakshit, proprietor, Partha Rakshit Associates, has been elected vice-chairman; Vikram Sakhuja, CEO, South Asia, GroupM Media is re-appointed honorary treasurer.
In a recent development at the board meeting of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), Arvind Sharma, chairman of India sub-continent, Leo Burnett has been elected as chairman of ASCI. He has been a member of the board of governors for the past seven years and has actively supported the self-regulation in advertising movement.
Sharma was vice-chairman at ASCI.
Earlier, the position of chairman was held by I Venkat, director, Eenadu, who will now be a member of the new board of governors for media.
In an official communiqué, Sharma says, "It is indeed an honour to be elected as chairman of ASCI, which has progressively contributed to effective self-regulation in advertising content. We are confident that the ad sector, industry body regulators, consumer activists and the general public will actively seek ASCI's services and take self-regulation forward."
Moreover, Partha Rakshit, proprietor, Partha Rakshit Associates, has been elected vice-chairman; and Vikram Sakhuja, chief executive officer, South Asia, GroupM Media India, has been re-appointed honorary treasurer.
