Sidheshwar Sharma has been appointed regional business director on the BlackBerry account at BBDO India. He will be in charge of both the regional as well as local business for the brand.
Based in the agency's Mumbai office, he will report to Ajai Jhala, chief executive officer, BBDO India.
Sharma moves in from Grey Worldwide, where he worked as client services director. At Grey, he worked closely on the Reliance-3G account.
Commenting on Sharma's move to the BBDO India 'Ashram', Jhala says in a press note, "We are excited to have Sid (Sharma) on board. He fully subscribes to our mantra of 'Create Acts Not Ads'. We agreed on terms during his 'action' vacation in Zanskar, a perfect prelude to his taking over the reins of the BlackBerry regional and India businesses."
Sharma brings around a decade of industry experience to the table. He began his advertising career with Ogilvy India (Mumbai) in 2003, after which, around six years ago, he moved to FP7, Dubai. Sharma has also worked on regional projects at Promoseven McCann for more than a year.
Later, after helping set up a start-up consultancy venture in Dubai, with interests in the advertising as well as non-advertising fields, he moved back to India and joined Ogilvy India (Mumbai) as an account director in 2009. At Ogilvy, he worked on brands such as Cadbury Dairy Milk, Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk, Dove Shampoo, Kissan and Kodak, amongst several others.
His hobbies include coaching basketball, white water rafting and mixing music.
