Sambit Mohanty, executive creative director, Bates India has put in his papers. Currently, Mohanty is serving his notice period. His next destination is still not known.

Mohanty joined Bates in 2010 from Brand Planet Elephant, where he was working in the same position.

Earlier this year, WPP had moved Sanjay Thapar from Ogilvy to Bates as CEO, in an effort to revive the agency. However, the agency soon made news with Dhiraj Sinha, regional planning director, calling it quits.

An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Mohanty has more than 12 years of experience in advertising. Starting out as a copywriter at McCann Erickson, he has worked at Euro RSCG, Lowe, Publicis, Vyas Giannetti Creative (VGC) and Leo Burnett.

As a creative director at Leo Burnett, Mohanty created the 'Full of Life' launch campaign for Chevrolet Spark, which included the 'Winking car' commercial. He was also behind the 'Where's the Pulp?' campaign for Minute Maid Pulpy Orange.

So far, Mohanty has helped build brands, such as those from the Reckitt-Benckiser portfolio (Dettol, Mortein, Harpic, Cherry Blossom), Perfetti Van Melle, Intel, MSN, Tanishq, Britannia, Nestlé (Maggi), HP, ABN Amro, Indian Express, BBC World, Park Hotels and Religare.
