Pandey is the first from the South Asian region to receive the award.
The CLIO Awards, which have long honoured excellence in advertising, design and communications, has announced Ogilvy's Piyush Pandey to be the recipient of the 2012/03 CLIO Lifetime Achievement Award. Pandey, executive chairman and creative director, Ogilvy South Asia, will be the first from the South Asian region to be honoured with the award.
The award will be presented to the advertising veteran at the 53rd Annual CLIO Awards ceremony that will take place on May 15 at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
One of the most prestigious honours in the advertising industry, the CLIO Lifetime Achievement Award recognises outstanding creative contributions of an individual who leads the advertising community forward.
In a press statement, Karl Vontz, director, CLIO, says, "Piyush (Pandey) truly embodies the spirit of this award. He not only possesses wonderful creative vision but is a great leader who motivates everyone around him with his enthusiasm and passion. We look forward to celebrating his body of work and his ongoing contributions in the field of advertising."
Earlier, Pandey has been the recipient of the Advertising Agencies Association of India Lifetime Achievement Award 2010 and has won five CLIO Awards till date.
CLIO established its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. Pandey will join the ranks of honourees such as iconic director and cinematographer Tony Kaye (2001); Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO co-founder David Abbott (2002); former Ogilvy and WPP Worldwide creative director Neil French (2003); Lee Clow, global director, media arts, TBWA Worldwide (2004); Sir John Hegarty, co-founder, BBH (2005); Bob Greenberg, co-founder and chairman, R/GA (2006); Bob Isherwood, worldwide creative director, Saatchi & Saatchi (2007); Marcello Serpa, partner and general creative director, Almap BBDO (2008); Dan Wieden, co-founder, Wieden + Kennedy (2009); Jeff Goodby and Rich Silverstein, co-chairmen and creative directors, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners (2010); and influential director Joe Pytka (2011).
