Pawar will fill the position of national-level creative head, which has been lying vacant for the last three years since Agnello Dias quit.
Mudra Group's chief creative officer Bobby Pawar is all set to move to JWT as chief creative officer and managing partner, India. The development has been confirmed by Pawar.
With this, JWT will fill the position of the national-level creative head, which has been lying vacant for the last three years since Agnello Dias quit the organisation.
Since then, JWT has had separate creative heads for its offices in Mumbai, Delhi and in the South. JWT Mumbai's creative team is headed by executive creative directors Tista Sen and Nandita Challam, while JWT South is headed by Senthil Kumar, executive creative director.
In Delhi, JWT had Adrian Miller as chief creative officer; Miller quit the organisation in May. The two key businesses in Delhi - Pepsi and Airtel (for a brief period) - were headed by Soumitra Karnik, who also quit in September. Currently, Swati Bhattacharyya heads the GSK (Glaxo SmithKline) business, while Surjo Dutt works on the Pepsi business.
Pawar joined Mudra as national creative director in 2007. The following year, he was promoted as chief creative officer.
His career spans about 19 years in advertising. He started his career with Ogilvy Mumbai and worked with agencies such as Tara Sinha Associates (now McCann Erickson) and Rediffusion before moving to the US.
At O&M New York, he worked on brands such as Jaguar, Kodak and American Express. He has also spent about three years with BBDO Chicago, an Omnicom group agency, before coming back to India in 2007.
Pawar has had the opportunity to work with several creative stalwarts including Neil French, Rick Boyko, Steve Hayden and Marty Orzio. He has also worked with planners such as Tony Wright and Chip Walker, and many top-notch ad filmmakers such as Bryan Buckley, Tony Scott, Javier Blanco, Noam Murro and Martin Granger.
