The last year has seen great action at Grey Delhi, with the agency picking up new businesses like Honda, Fuji, Nat Geo, Fox Traveller and Mankind, launching brands like Honda Brio, and picking up awards at Cannes.

The agency has now appointed Uddalak Gupta as executive creative director and joint creative head at Delhi. Gupta has been brought in as Amit Shankar's copy partner.

On Gupta's appointment, Amit Akali, senior vice-president and joint national creative director, Grey India, says, "Shankar has been one of our best hires at Grey. Under him, the Delhi team has grown from a five-member team, to a 17-member one, and picked up both awards and businesses. With Gupta coming in as Shankar's partner, we hope to take the Grey Delhi creative offering to the next level."

On Gupta partnering with Shankar, Malvika Mehra, senior vice-president and joint national creative director, Grey India, says, "Gupta seemed like a perfect partner for Shankar; they're good friends and have worked together, earlier. Gupta is a great writer, the kind of talent that attracts other talent to join an agency."

On his appointment, Gupta says, "We want to be a rock band that makes its own music and be heard. There's lots of energy here and good vibes. I come in as rhythm guitar and backing vocals. It's also a chance given to get it cooking with my old mate Shankar. Thanks to Amit Akali and Malvika Mehra for giving it a shout. You'll hear from us."

UG (as Gupta is commonly known) has nearly two decades of experience with agencies such as Contract, Equus Red Cell, and Ogilvy India. He's worked on numerous categories and brands such as Honda Motorcycles and Scooters, Daewoo Motors in the automotive segment, SpiceJet in aviation, The Indian Express, The Telegraph, India Today, Ten Network, and ESPN in media, NIIT, HCL, Oracle in the computer category, InterContinental in hospitality, Max New York Life in finance, Dabur in personal care, and Spice Telecom in the telecommunication segment. He has also won several awards such as Abby, CAG and 3As of I.
