Sen, who is currently executive vice-chairman and chief creative officer at Dentsu India, has been with the agency since 2003.
Gullu Sen, executive vice-chairman and chief creative officer, Dentsu India, has decided to move out of the agency after a period of eight years. Sen confirmed his exit over a phone call with afaqs!.
Sen, who has been with Dentsu since its inception, fondly recalls the days when the agency was started "from scratch, from our homes". He sums up his tenure at Dentsu as wonderful.
"I shall be carrying fond memories of this place with me, and shall take back a lot of knowledge which I have acquired here," Sen remarks.
Some of the brands at Dentsu he holds close to his heart include HDFC Life Insurance ('Sar Utha Ke Jiyo'), Toyota, Aircel (all campaigns), and Suzlon. Sen was intensely involved with these brands and "thoroughly enjoyed the brand building processes".
Sen hopes to take a breather for around a month, after having served his notice period. He intends to use that time to contemplate upon other options and key offers.
Sen, who began his career with HTA (now JWT) in 1984, has worked on over 300 campaigns in his career spanning nearly three decades. He has been much acclaimed for his work and has received global awards. Some of his work includes Airtel (including the famous AR Rahman commercial), Maruti (including the 'Ladakh Gypsy' commercial), Colgate (the 'Mera Colgate' campaign that turned the brand around), and the Toyota Innova campaign, featuring actor Aamir Khan.
Before joining Dentsu in 2003, Sen was national creative director at Rediffusion-Y&R, where he served for a period of nine years -- his longest stint anywhere.
He has also worked at Grey Worldwide (then Trikaya Grey) and Mudra's Interact Vision.
