The Mumbai- based salon spent only Rs 1.8 Lakh on a 14-day-long activity

On India's 63rd Independence Day, Mumbai-based Tress Xcel Unisex Salon decided to pay homage to defence personnel and security forces, including the police. As part of its corporate social responsibility, the salon organised a 14-day camp in the city to provide free hair cuts and fish pedicures to the personnel.
The activity was designed to give the personnel a makeover, by giving them professional and fashionable hairstyles on the occasion of the Independence Day.
The camp, which began on August 01, was visited by personnel of all ranks. The Mumbai-based salon spent only Rs 1.8 lakh on the activity, which was attended by about 170 people.
This activity provides a change from the medical camps that the officials are more used to, says Snehil Dhall, business development director, Tress Xcel Unisex Salon. He says, "The hair-cuts and pedicures give them refreshment from the usual blood donation and medical camps."
As a part of the activity, a team from the salon visited police stations in several areas In Mumbai, such as Malad, Kandivli, Borivali, Dindoshi, Goregaon West, Samta Nagar, Aarey and Gorai.
The activity also got the salon required buzz, with about five appearances in the local media, Dhall confirmed.
To give final touches to the camp, the salon oragnised a hair colouring camp for police officials on August 15.
