Tarkas will work as a mentor for the company
Sandip Tarkas, president, customer strategy, Future Group and chief executive officer, Future Media, has joined the board of directors of Manhattan Communications as an independent director. Tarkas has more than 20 years of experience and has earlier worked as head of Mindshare Fulcrum and chief executive officer of MPG and Media Direction.
As an independent director, Tarkas' role will be that of a mentor. "I will guide the company on which direction it should take, the kind of work it should do and the brand it should be looking for," says Tarkas in a conversation with afaqs!.
Tarkas is a graduate from IIT Bombay and a post graduate from IIM Bangalore. He started his career in 1990 with Blow Plast and later had a stint at Mudra Communication, which was followed by GroupM, where he stayed for more than seven years. In 2002, he joined MPG as president, South Asia, a position he held for a little over one and a half years.
In 2004, he was appointed chief executive officer, Media Direction and in 2006, was appointed media head, Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group.
Shantonu Aditya, co-promoter and director, Manhattan Communications, says, "His vast knowledge and experience in media will help in guiding the company's growth strategy across the US, the UK and India, especially in the marketing solutions and digital space."
In India, Manhattan Communications focuses on building brands and marketing, especially through on ground activities such as promotions, events, exhibitions and out of home solutions. It also operates in the digital space (ad network) through its entities - Manhattan Digital and EON India.
The company currently has offices in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata and plans to start operations in Bengaluru soon.
