The size of the business is estimated to be in region of Rs 5-6 crore
Thai Airways has awarded its integrated communications duties – creative, media and PR – to Beehive Communications. The account was won following a multi-agency pitch. Names of the agencies, however, could not be ascertained. Earlier, the advertising account used to be serviced by Lowe, Delhi.
Both Thai Airways and Beehive Communications remained tight-lipped on the size of the account. But going by the current trends in tourism and travel spends, the account is likely to be in the vicinity of Rs 5-6 crore, say sources at Beehive.
A delighted Sanjit Shastri, CEO, Beehive Communications, says, “It is an honour and a privilege for us to be awarded the Thai Airways account. We see it as a significant win. As always, we will continue to focus on those segments where we can demonstrate a clear domain advantage.”
Elaborating on the plans for Thai Airways in India, Khun Sudhagun Divaveja, general manager India and Bhutan, Thai Airways, says, “Thai Airways has big plans for India with increased flights, greater connectivity, more stations and shortly a brand new international airport to promote.”
“Moreover, with India taking centerstage in the global economic arena, we felt the need to work with a partner, who has the specific expertise in this sector as well as a clear vision of the communications that needed to be created. And in Beehive, we have found such a partner.”
The Thai Airways win comes close on the heels of the agency bagging the creative and public relations duties of Star Cruises, Asia Pacific’s cruise liner company.
Pegged at Rs 6 core, the Star Cruises account was earlier serviced by Singapore-based creative hot-shop TNT.
The task at hand for Beehive – besides promoting existing ships, SuperStar Virgo and SuperStar Gemini – is to launch the first ever cruise liner to be home ported in India –SuperStar Libra.
The luxury liner SuperStar Libra was recently showcased to the travel fraternity and the media at a series of launch events held last week. SuperStar Libra, the 42,000 tonne stunner, has attractions such as classy restaurants, on board entertainment and leisure activities. SuperStar Libra will commence commercial sailings on October 1, 2005 and will sail to Goa and Lakshwadeep. © 2005 agencyfaqs!
