If the latest TRPs are anything to go by, Balaji Telefilms have another winner blockbuster in Kkavyanjali, the serial that debuted recently on Star Plus. The TRP ratings for the debut week were 13 and the show has now settled down to a TRP of 10.

According to industry sources, this compares very favourably with the initial response that was generated by Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi – the other long running blockbuster from the Balaji stable. Various factors have contributed to this excellent response.

The serial marks the television debut of two popular Bollywood stars of the yesteryears – Amrita Singh and Vidya Sinha. Kkavyanjali also has a very fresh look to it. The treatment of the serial is different when compared to other Balaji productions. It is richly produced and has the look and feel of a telefilm rather than just another television serial. For perhaps the first time in the Indian television history, promos for the show were shot on specially designed lavish sets.

Probably the biggest factor for the serials excellent TRPs is the lead pair Kkavya played by Rakshak Sawhney and Anjali played by Natasha. According to industry sources, by casting fresh-faced newcomers, whom the youth audience can identify with, Balaji has staged another coup.

Almost universally the audience has found both of them sweet, romantic and the kind, people relate to. The high profile never seen before promotion that preceded the launch of the serial has also helped a lot. From every signal which had huge billboards glaring at us, to BEST buses to local trains, cinema theatres to malls, all of them saw massive promotion of the serial.

The romantic visuals of the lead couple were on thousands of shopping bags, desk calendars and key chains etc., which were given away during the promotions. All this helped in creating a tremendous buzz about the serial.
