The prestigious “Magudam Awards” is a unique platform that acknowledges and celebrates excellence and relentless efforts of those of individuals and organisations in the field of Sports, Business, Arts & Literature, Entertainment, Social Service and Science & Technology.
The award distinguishes itself by celebrating not only exemplary individuals and their achievements but also the ideas that have inspired the state and impacted the lives. The awards adhere to a transparent and robust selection procedure that includes the News18 Editorial Board drawing up a list of nominees, further leading to the final selection of winners by a Jury comprising a select group of distinguished personalities.
The Juries team for Magudam Awards’19 comprises dignitaries Padma Shri. Sudha Ragunathan – Carnatic Singer, D. Jayakumar – State Minister, J Jeyaranjan– Economist, Actress Gautami, Karu Palaniappan – Orator & Director, Suresh Mahalingam – Ex- CEO & MD – Tata AIA, Vasanthabalan – Film Director and Yuga bharathi – Writer & Lyricist.
The award ceremony held at ITC Grand Chola at Chennai on 18th Oct 2019 witnessed the presence of eminent Guests Hon’ble Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana, Dr. Kamal Hassan, Makkal Neethi Maiyam and many others from all walks of life.
The winners’ list includes Mr. Nagaraj, M.D, Ramraj Cotton for his Entrepreneur skills, Anuradha for achievements in Sports, Murugan & GramaParvai for their Social Service, Dr. Aravindan Sivakumar for his service in health care, The Governement high School of Madivalam, Hosur for their outstanding academic services, Mr. Su. Venkatesan for penning Veerayuga NayaganVelpari period novel, Mr. Muthu Nagu for his Writing skills.
In the field of entertainment Director Ram was awarded for his for directing movie Peranbu and Actor Mammootty for his performance in the same movie. Actor Vijay Sethupathi was awarded for his role in movie Seetha kathi and Actress Aishwarya Rajesh for acknowledged for her role in sports drama movie “Kanaa”
The televised event will be aired on 26th Oct 2019, 8 pm at News18 Tamil Nadu.
