The appointment will be effective from January 1, 2018.
In a recent announcement, pharma company Sanofi India, has elevated N. Rajaram as managing director. The new role will be effective from January 1, 2018. Rajaram joined the company in January 2014 and was appointed as whole time director in October 2015.
Rajaram has nearly two decades of experience in the FMCG industry with Hindustan Unilever, and in the telecom industry with Airtel. Rajaram holds a bachelor’s degree Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, India and an MBA in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi. He is also an Alumnus of the Advanced Managed Program of the Harvard Business School.
Rajaram succeeds Dr. Shailesh Ayyangar who has been the managing director of Sanofi India for over 12 years. Ayyangar will take up a new role in the Sanofi Asia region effective January 1, 2018. He will also continue as a non-executive director on the board of Sanofi India.
Speaking about the transition, Ayyangar, says in a press release, “I am truly grateful for the trust and confidence reposed on me over the years, by Sanofi India’s shareholders and other stakeholders including our employees and the senior leadership within Sanofi. It has been a real privilege to serve the company and the country over a long period.”
He adds, “While I am looking forward to taking a new position in Sanofi Asia region, I am delighted to welcome N. Rajaram as the new managing director of SIL. This transition has been planned well in advanced and I am very confident that under his leadership, SIL will scale greater heights of performance and continue to serve the patients of our country.”
