Freecharge, a digital payments platform, has announced the appointment of Karthik Rajeshwaran as director, strategy.

In his new role, Rajeshwaran will utilise his keen understanding of the Indian consumer landscape, and his experience of working in a global start-up ecosystem geared to usher in consumer-centric innovations with the aim to expand revenue across new business opportunities, says the company in a press release.

Rajeshwaran has previously led global marketing and growth at Obi Worldphone, where he launched smartphones and crafted brand communication plans across Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, as well as countries in the Middle-East.

Rajeshwaran, who holds a Management degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, started his career with Hindustan Unilever.

Freecharge claims to be India's fastest growing digital payments platform. Consumers across the country use Freecharge to make prepaid, post-paid, DTH, and electricity bill payments for numerous utility service providers in addition to leading online and offline merchants. Freecharge Go, the virtual card, was launched in January 2016, making Freecharge wallet the universally accepted wallet in India.
