The objective of the activity is to celebrate one's commonalities, as well as indulge in the sheer joy of digging into an ice-cream. The images of the activity can be shared by using the hashtag #UberIceCream Day.
To participate in the promotional activity, the user will need to open the Uber app on Friday, July 15, between 11 am and 3 pm, set his/her location, and choose the ice-cream option in the app by sliding towards the right hand side. If a vehicle is available, users will be able to enjoy their choice of ice-cream at their doorstep within a few minutes. One can also log on to uber.com/icecream to avail of the full ice-cream scoop.
The company, in a press release, claims that 400 cities across 69 countries around the world are participating in what it calls the 'largest global promotion in the history of Uber'. Of this, the 20 Indian cities where the activation will be executed later this week on July 15 include Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, New Delhi, Pune, Surat, Vadodara, and Vishakhapatnam.
Uber was founded in 2009, with the service being available in 27 Indian cities. Uber Ice Cream is a way for Uber cities around the world to connect on one day and celebrate the shared loved for this frozen treat. It's also an opportunity for members of Uber's city teams to get out in their communities and meet riders and drivers face-to-face. Launched in 1989, Magnum was the first hand-held ice-cream.
