Sakal Media Group's Shailesh Amonkar has resigned from the company. In a four-year stint with the organisation, Amonkar was chief operating officer looking at new business initiatives as well as chief marketing officer heading sales and marketing functions for the group. He will continue working with Sakal till March 31.
Says Amonkar, "I move on after a successful tenure with Sakal and look forward to taking the luxury of a short sabbatical."
Amonkar is likely to turn entrepreneur and is embarking on an a few domestic and international new-media initiatives. He will continue to be based in India (across multiple offices in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Goa and Bengaluru) and is also setting up an office in the Silicon Valley, USA.
This was Amonkar's second stint with Sakal Media. He was earlier with the group from 2003 to 2006, when he quit as director, marketing to set up his own media venture Kemistry Media Solutions. Amonkar has nearly thirty years of experience in the industry. In past, he has been associated with The Times of India for about 15 years before he joined Sakal as chief marketing officer in 2012. In 2015 he was given the additional role of chief operating officer - new businesses.
