Bhaskar Choudhuri was earlier associated with Cadbury as associate vice-president, marketing, for candy and gum category.
Bhaskar Choudhuri, former associate vice-president, marketing, Cadbury India, has joined Lenovo India to head marketing. Choudhuri, who will be based in Bengaluru, will lead the company's three core segments - consumers, relationship (enterprise) and SMB (small and medium businesses). Choudhuri takes over from Shailendra Katyal, who was shifted to head the consumer segment at Lenovo India, a few months ago.
Choudhuri will 'protect' or retain Lenovo's equity in relationship segment and 'attack' or increase the brand preference of the company in the consumer and SOHO (small office/home office) segment. He will also have the task of creating the brand's digital strategies in order to engage with the youth.
On the appointment, Amar Babu, managing director, Lenovo India, says, "This development is in line with our growth strategy, as we are moving towards the PC+ era and increasing our focus on the youth segment. Bhaskar is a versatile sales and marketing professional and has played a significant role in managing one of India's leading FMCG brands. We are certain his rich experience will enhance Lenovo's brand image significantly."
Choudhuri, meanwhile, says that the shift from a leading FMCG company to an established technology brand is quite thrilling. "Despite the fact that both segments are diverse, leveraging the youth connect remains a common factor," he says.
In this career spanning over 13 years, Choudhuri has worked in sales and marketing for the FMCG sector. At Cadbury, Choudhuri was with the candy and gum category. He also headed Cadbury Diary Milk (CDM) and was part of the team that introduced CDM Silk and CDM Shots.
