Jayaraman replaces Sameer Suneja, who has been promoted to a global role as executive vice-president, innovation and business development, Perfetti Van Melle.
Perfetti Van Melle (PVM) India has roped in Ramesh Jayaraman as managing director. Earlier, Jayaraman was MD of PVM's businesses in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Jayaraman replaces Sameer Suneja, who has been promoted to a global role as executive vice-president, innovation and business development, Perfetti Van Melle. Suneja will now be based in the Netherlands with a larger responsibility in the global operation of the company and will report to the global CEO of Perfetti Van Melle.
As a part of his new mandate, Jayaraman will handle India operations for the company.
Jayaraman is well respected for his extensive skills and knowledge across all functions of the company. His leadership has been a key driver in transforming the company's operations and sustained growth in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh markets.
With 24 years of experience in the industry, Jayaraman graduated from XLRI Jamshedpur and started his professional stint as product executive with Cadbury India in 1988. After completing three years at Cadbury, he joined Britannia Industries as marketing manager in 1992. In 1999, he moved to Danone Biscuits China as category director.
In March 2002, Jayaraman joined Groupe Danone HQ Biscuit division as global innovation manager and later, in December 2002, became marketing director in Danone Mashreq Biscuits Egypt. Later, he joined Danone Asia as project director India.
In September 2005, he joined Yakult Danone India as deputy managing director but left within six months to join Perfetti Van Melle Bangladesh as managing director. In 2009, Sri Lanka was also added to his existing responsibilities of Bangladesh.
