Sony India appoints Kenichiro Hibi as managing director

Hibi will be based in Delhi. He replaces Masaru Tamagawa, who moves on as president, Sony Europe.

Kenichiro Hibi, managing director, Sony CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) has taken up the role of managing director, Sony India. Hibi will take charge of the Indian operations with effect from July 1 and will be based in Delhi.

As a part of his new mandate, Hibi will head the overall growth and profitability of the company, drive robust business strategy through thought leadership and guide excellence in market performance across all categories.

Hibi replaces Masaru Tamagawa, managing director, Sony India, who moves on as president, Sony Europe, with effect from July 1.

In an official communiqué, Hibi says, "India is one of the key markets for Sony globally, with an immense growth potential across categories. I am excited to continue Sony's journey to success in one of the most dynamic markets in the world."

Hibi comes with more than 23 years of experience. As MD for Sony's CIS regions (which includes Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine), he spent more than six years and played a crucial role in making the region emerge as one of the most potential contributors in Sony's global growth map.
