Amit Saberwal, former senior vice-president, hotels and international markets at MakeMyTrip has taken up a new role at the company as chief business officer for international markets.
He has been with the online travel company for the more than seven years now. It is learnt that Saberwal's additional responsibilities, along with the existing responsibilities of managing the hotels business, will be to expand MakeMyTrip's operations and enhance customer experience in international markets.
Saberwal says, "I am looking forward to this new leg of the journey as we strive to move beyond India and create a footprint that spreads from West Asia to Southeast Asia."
Saberwal, who has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality and tourism industry, is a hotel management graduate with a PG diploma in sales and marketing from National Institute for Sales, New Delhi.
He has worked with Sarovar Hotels and Resorts as regional sales manager for five years, (1997-2002). Later, he moved to The Park Hotels as director, sales and marketing.
In April 2005, Saberwal joined MakeMyTrip.com as senior vice-president, distribution and was based in Singapore. Recently, he was promoted as chief business officer, international market.
