The company also flagged off the 'Spot the Lumia' contest, which makes consumers eligible to be a part of a 'Sky Party' on board the Nokia Lumia branded Jet Airways aircraft.
Nokia's 'Amazing Everyday Campaign' just got a little more amazing as it unveiled the Lumia branded Jet Airways aircraft in Mumbai. Jet Airways' Boeing 737 will carry an advertisement of the Finnish company's new smartphone.
Branded entirely in Lumia colours, the Jet Airways plane will sport the tile interface of the new Nokia smartphone on its windows, as well as inside the aircraft. The aircraft branding also features the names of Nokia employees responsible for this marketing initiative, acknowledging their contribution to the Nokia Lumia launch in India.
Nokia also announced an exciting consumer competition, 'Spot the Lumia', where lucky winners will get an opportunity to make it to the 'Sky Party' on this aircraft on January 20. The aircraft will take off from Mumbai and will return after the party.
While unveiling the branded plane, Prashanth Mani, general manager, West, Nokia India, said, "The Amazing Everyday journey has been designed to live and share the consumer's everyday adventures. The Nokia Lumia branded plane of Jet Airways will surely brighten the day of its passengers, with its vivid colours and execution. This has created a new marketing and consumer engagement benchmark."
The company aims to target frequent fliers through this initiative.
The aircraft branding was executed by Lintas Outdoor Initiative. It took a weekend to brand the aircraft through a special technology patented by 3M, which uses a special form of stickers to avert the possibility of increasing the aircraft's weight. The material used is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration and Directorate General for Civil Aviation.
Mani said that the media spends on the brand have been increased, but refused to divulge any further details.
The mobile handset company had already created some amazing moments for consumers, with the launch of the Nokia Lumia range through the Lumia Taxi, flash mobs, flash cricket and luxury helicopter rides. The Lumia aircraft is expected to take the 'amazing quotient' of this campaign a little higher.
Jet Airways will benefit from the ancillary revenue from advertisements on its aircraft. It will fly on the Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Coimbatore routes.
On the new revenue generation opportunity, Manish Dureja, vice-president, marketing, products and merchandising, Jet Airways, says, "The aircraft wrap is a virtual advertising billboard that allows you to take your brand to the skies, quite literally. We are happy to partner with Nokia Lumia as our launch customer, and are certain Nokia users all over India will simply love this unique manner of advertising chosen by their brand."
He adds that the entire fleet is open for branding. The company intends to launch 25-30 branded aircrafts within one month.
Dureja claims that an audience of one million can be targeted in a month by branding a single flight. The in-flight panels, screens and boarding passes will be up for branding and revenue generation.
"Now, imagine the power of communicating your brand message to a focussed group of prospects in a unique and eyeball-catching way, and that is what the aircraft wrap will deliver to brand managers across India who opt to take their brands to the skies in the months ahead," adds Dureja.
The Nokia Lumia Jet aircraft has already started its journey, as it flies across destinations in India during January 1-31.
