If week 44, that is, October 27, 2002, to November 2, 2002, saw Balaji Telefilms' Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi on STAR Plus dominating the TAM Top 100 list in C&S homes with a score of 10.94 and 10.48 respectively (episodes telecast October 28 and October 30, 2002), the following week, (November 3 to 9) sees sister production, Kahaani Ghar Ghar leading the pack with a score of 9.03 for the episode telecast on November 6, 2002.

Kyunki follows, albeit a close second at 8.71, but what is interesting is that this close finish is not as close as it was last week when Kahaani came in at No 3 with a figure of 10.41, just 0.07 points below Kyunki, which was firmly ensconced at No 2.

Other top STAR Plus offerings for the week include Kasautii Zindagii Kay with 6.92, Ssshhhh… Koi Hain with 5.98, Khulja Sim Sim with 5.65, Kaahin Kissii Roz with 5.47, Kismey Kitna Hain Dum with 5.36, Sanjivani with 5.28, Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand with 5.19 and Sonpari with 4.8 - highlighting its grip over primetime television.

Sony seems conspicuous by its absence among the Top 20, appearing instead at No 48 with a score of 3.19 for the November 8, 2002, episode of CID. Last week, Hindi feature film Lagaan had pushed Sony into the Top 10 with a score of 7.69, whereas CID and Kkusum had scores of 3.54 and 3.09 respectively. This week, Heena and Kkusum are way down in the list with scores of 2.64 and 2.62 respectively.

DD Sports has managed to break into the top league with the One Day International between India and West Indies on November 9, 2002 appearing at No 21 with a score of 4.81. In fact, DD Sports occupies a total of nine slots in the Top 100, underscoring the fact that cricket is one of the key drivers of viewership in India.

ZEE has Thursday Premieres and online lotteries as morale boosters, appearing one after the other on the ratings chart (Playwin Lucky 3 comes in at No 23 and Hindi feature film Mujhse Dosti Karoge at No 24). However, a notable aspect of this week's Thursday Premiere is the increase in rating points - from 3.38 for Om Jai Jagadish last week to 4.67 for Mujse Dosti Karoge this week.

South channels Sun TV and Gemini TV seem to be replicating the feature film formula with a fair degree of success. Leading the south Indian brigade is Sun TV with feature film Padayappa at No 26 and a score of 4.27 to back it. Gemini TV is not far behind with a score of 4.01 for its feature film Kshemangavelli Laba, appearing at No 29. Both Sun TV and Gemini TV occupy a total of 19 and 23 slots among the Top 100.

In the TAM Top 100 list for all homes, it is DD1, DD2 and DD Sports all the way, with STAR appearing in 21 places, and ZEE in two. For ZEE, the two entries are again Playwin Lucky 3 (at No 83) and Hindi feature film Mujhse Dosti Karoge (at No 84). The entries for STAR are Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki (at Nos 11, 18, 19, 29), Kyunki …. (at Nos 12, 13, 21, 28), Kasautii Zindagii Kay (at Nos 32, 48, 51, 68), Kaahin Kissii Roz (at Nos 55, 56, 77, 87), Ssshhhh… Koi Hai (at No 42), Khullja Sim Sim (at No 49), Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand (67), Sanjivani (at 63) and Kismey Kitnaa Hai Dam (at 59). © 2002 agencyfaqs!
