Seasoned JWT India hand, Maneesh Rangra breathed his last today. He succumbed to a cardiac arrest in New Delhi. Working as the executive business director, Rangra was unwell in the last few months and was admitted into the hospital in the ICU (Intensive Care) Unit last week.

A grieving Colvyn Harris, chief executive officer, JWT India says, "He (Rangra) has been one of our brightest stars and contributed immensely to the leadership of the office. Without exception, he built strong relationships with the teams he worked with, injected a can-do spirit in every project he got involved in and was always the beacon of optimism for his colleagues."

"He was a mentor to many, and had earned the love and respect of his peers and the admiration of clients, " Harris adds.

Rangra joined JWT in 1995 and over a tenure that lasted 16 years handled brands across categories. He successfully led businesses such as Reckitt Benckiser, Yum Foods, Nokia, Airtel, Glaxo Smithkline, Sony and Monte Carlo among others.

Remembered fondly by his colleagues, Rangra was known to lead from the front and constantly encourage his team mates and position them strongly before the agency's clients.

He was often sought for advice by the senior-most brand managers in making tough market moves, the agency says.

An accomplished basketball player, he is also remembered for his gusto and zest for challenges and being a favourite with the agency's clients.

He is survived by his wife and two children.
