Nike wins the Indian cricket team kit sponsorship

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Nike will be the official kit supplier to the Indian Cricket Team.

In an extremely competitive yet transparent tendering process,Nike India won this prestigious contract from BCCI for a period of five years beginning January 1, 2006.

Unveiling the details of the apparel sponsorship to the media in a press conference, BCCI Vice President Mr. Lalit Modi said, “We were looking for a partner who can bring cutting edge innovation in apparel and footwear to our players and who can help the players enhance their performance.”

“This is truly a defining moment for Nike as this is our first step towards demonstrating our commitment to India and the game of cricket,” said Peter Bratschi, Nike’s Sports Marketing Director for Asia Pacific, “We are thankful to BCCI for placing the trust in Nike and its innovative products, and for choosing us as their official kit sponsor for the Indian Cricket Team. We look forward to working with the team, and to creating the best performance products for the players.”

As the official licensee for apparel merchandise of Cricket India, Nike will actively market replicas of the Indian team kit through its vast distribution network in India and abroad.
