Zarina Mehta, co-founder at UTV Software (now a Walt Disney company), has decided to put in her papers as chief creative officer, UTV Group. With this, Mehta ends her 27-year stint with the company.
In an internal mail to the company employees, Mehta has mentioned that she will now move full time into the foundation SHARE (Society to Heal, Aid, Restore and Educate) as managing trustee.
She said, "It has been 27 years of doing the same thing. And much as I have loved it passionately, I have felt the need to think about different challenges, to apply my mind, energy and passion to other problems."
Earlier, Mehta was COO, Hungama, then the kid's channel from the UTV stable and now a Disney channel. She also led the launch of TV brands such as UTV Bindass, UTV Stars and UTV Action.
It may be noted that the Walt Disney Company concluded its UTV-acquisition deal in February this year. Disney had announced that it would acquire, through a subsidiary, a controlling interest in UTV. The acquisition followed a de-listing offer wherein Disney was integrated into UTV's current operations.
