Tellychakkar, which started off as a sub-section on Indiantelevision.com, was launched as a separate website on February 12
Indian Television Dot Com Pvt. Ltd (ITV), the portal on television, launched another website, Tellychakkar.com, on February 12. Anil Wanvari, CEO, Indiantelevision.com, will head this site, too. Aparna Joshi has been appointed editor of the new site.
Speaking to agencyfaqs!, Anil Wanvari, CEO, Indiantelevision.com, says, “Tellychakkar.com is a consumer oriented site dealing with TV programming and TV stars. The primary difference between Indiantelevision.com and Tellychakkar.com is that the content of the former is much more business oriented and commercial in nature, while the latter is more of a destination for television fans.”
Tellychakkar started as a small sub-section on Indiantelevision.com five years ago. For the last one year, it has existed as a URL.
Talking about why the site has been launched now, Wanvari says, “Currently, the Internet economy is on an upswing, the Internet base in India has increased and more and more women are getting on the Internet. Moreover, we got a tremendous response for the URL in the one year of its existence. Keeping all this in mind, and with a strong team under the leadership of Joshi, we decided to launch Tellychakkar as a separate site.”
The content of the site includes news, features, lifestyle, interviews and everything that can capture television stars. The site also has a section that plays live videos.
Aparna Joshi, editor, Tellychakkar.com, says, “My mandate is to provide exclusive content on a daily basis. We will be pushing live videos very aggressively, including shoots, interviews, etc. We also have a section on the site where the audience can post their opinions. Finally, the objective that all of us have here is to create a strong audience base for the site.”
Wanvari is not looking at implementing an aggressive marketing initiative for the site initially. He is looking at creating strong content. He signs off, “Once strong content is in place, we will surely look at making partnerships and marketing and advertising for the site.”
